Aerodynamic and FSI modeling of wind turbines have always been very challenging. That is because of the difficulty involved in obtaining accurate values for the torque generated and also because of the FSI between the airflow and the turbine blade motion and deformation. The good time-accuracy we get from our space–time formulation will play an important role in our computer modeling effort, which we expect to take wind turbine modeling far beyond the level reached in the past decades. We are now in a position to start a major effort in wind turbine modeling.
